Required pre-work for Session 2

Before Session 2, could you please reflect on the following questions:

Even if it isn’t your normal practice, I suggest writing your answers by hand on paper (or perhaps in a lovely new coaching journal)…

  1. Where there is a ‘chemistry’ meeting, how do you judge if you are a good “match” for a prospective coaching client?
  2. What’s most important to you about the first coaching session with a new client?
  3. How do you re-contract within a coaching session (and throughout the coaching engagement)?
  4. What can get in the way of building trust and safety? Think of a time when it has been difficult for you to do this.

Optional pre-work for Session 2

Extra Resources:

  1. During the session today when we discussed confidentiality (and what might include in your Coaching Agreement) I may have referred to the ICF Sample Coaching Agreement.
  2. If you don’t already have it, you should download a copy of the ICF Client Coaching Log Template – scroll to the bottom of this page on the ICF website and download the Excel file.

ICF Video Series on Core Competencies

The ICF created a video series and there is a short YouTube video about each Core Competency. Depending on your learning style, you may find these videos useful.
